October 30: Manchester

We made a quick circle today. We had a small window of time between school and Awana, so we thought we would find some cakes in West County. Rain, traffic and over estimation of our time meant we only got to half our list for the day but still a good day.

We started out at the Manchester City Hall.

Just a few miles down the road is the Museum of the Dog. A place we have yet to visit, but seem the sign for many times. Alas, they closed just as we walked up. So another time. It did take us a bit of searching to find, with road work and such.

We did get to see some dogs as they were leaving.

And the last cake of this cold and rainy jaunt was at the Lodge at Des Peres.

October 27: South St. Louis

Oh, what beautiful weather we were blessed with for this fall break! 86 degrees in late October! Perfect for a little cake hunting.

We headed into the city again today. We picked up a few that we didn't get to on Friday and then headed into South St. Louis for our itenerary for today. Our goal was to get caught up with Jacob plus some he hasn't done. Goal accomplished except for the Imos cake that is out for repairs. We ended up finding 20 cakes today.

We started out with the Edward Jones Dome. Another picture through the window. We almost got chased away from our quick parking spot but the other quard quickly covered for us. She explained that people would pull up through out the day, get a picture of the cake and leave. It's all good. :-)

Looks like this is a cool cake. Too bad we couldn't get better pics. But, glad to have one!

Next we headed to the St. Louis Post Dispatch where Alex was quite disappointed to discover the have no statues of Pulitzer outside.

Across the street.

Road Closed Ahead pretty much sums up our experience with this cake! Lots of circling, detouring and bumping over cobble stones.

After we grabbed this cake, which would have been SO much easier from the train on Friday, we headed south. Or tried to. The road the GPS wanted us to take was blocked, but we eventually made it out of down town!

Hmm, a disticnct brewery smell prevailed here!

So many cool looking churches in this neighborhood!

They have a cool St. Louis neighborhood map shirt that I would have been tempted to buy if they were open. They also had a cat that didn't like us.

We loved this spot! So many cool thing in this international market! Some yummy looking eateries around here too!!

Our loot!
Alex's sole goal was Pocky. Mine was Japanese Kit Kats. But I didn't find any. The jelly straws are jello. Jacob and I ate the seaweed flavored ones. Not bad.

The kids had a ton of fun here.

So pretty here!

It smelled so good here!
