Today's adventure was made possible with a day pass on the Metrolink. I love this: One Day Adventure Pass. What a perfect name for the ticket! We hopped on at N Hanley and rode to the Arch. Because we had a day pass, we hopped on and off whenever we came to a convenient station.
At the bottom of the stairs at the Arch station, I pulled out my map and itenerary so that I could figure out where the first cake was, completely oblivious to the cake right in front of me!! This picture is a reinactment, but I did not move. Um yeah. But, in my defense, I forgot there was an Ead's Bridge cake and was trying to figure out where the Laclede's Landing cake was. Which we did not get, because I thought this was it. We will go back. Jacob has actually seen the Laclede's Landing Cake but doesn't have a picture.
As you can see, it clearly says Laclede's Landing. Which is why I got confused.
It was so beautiful at the Arch grounds!
Alexa wanted a picture with the Old Courthouse. Too bad we didn't have her script this time.
We watched a short film on the Dred Scott case.

Maybe a jury deliberation room?
One of the courtrooms
This was cool. Too bad we had no bottles to fill.
Fort San Carlos
The Fort cake is in front of the Hilton. We were standing there trying to find a fort. Studying the map and thinking, "it has to be here!" Turned around and "oh, there it is". Well, we were looking for a fort! :-)
We could see Busch Stadium from the courthouse and the "fort". The cake was not on my map. But the stadium was right there. I had heard rumors the cake was gone. But surely not. So we walked down to look.
Finally, I pulled out my phone and discovered that yes, the cake is gone. There was a dispute with the artist and it was removed. Apparently everyone in the dispute is satisfied. But, um, we are not!! Luckily we do have one picture of it. Alex took a picture of my brother with the cake, back in the summer when they went for a game. I guess that will have to do.

A couple articles on what happened to the cake.
We did get a statue picture.
By this point, we were thirsty and hungry and ready for a break. We hopped on the train and headed back to Union Station for lunch. I was so sad looking at all the empty stores and seeing what a ghost mall it is becoming. I remember it in its busy days.
We decided we might as well take another Union Station cake picture.
We got back on the train and took it to 8th and Pine and wandered around the Wainwright building looking for its cake. We detoured into its courtyard, thinking it might be there, and found a photo op,
We finally asked a security guard, who ushered us inside. Aha, an inside cake! Glad we asked! They must get a lot of cake hunters. "Cake." He answered when another guard asked why we were there.

The Garden looked like a fun place to explore but Alex did not feel well so we cut our visit short.
At this point we came to another train station and the end of our time and Alex's endurance. We all had a fun time exploring this section of town and I found some places I have wanted to visit and must go back to. (Like Sauce on the Side. A calzone restaraunt.)
Another successful day of cake hunting.
