October 4: Payne-Gentry House and Taille de Noyer

Well, I thought summer was busy, but then school started up and we haven't been cake hunting in about 2 months! Part of that is due to all of us getting a bad respitory virus that just made us want to lay low when we finally got any time to take a break. Part of it is due to just a very busy schedule. But, we finally found a bit of time to fit a couple of cakes in. We headed into North County for these.

We started our hunt with a cake that Jacob did over the summer with CYIA, the Payne Gentry House which is Missouri's only restored house with a doctor's office. I guess it is appropriate that we started October out with what is also considered a haunted house.

Alex's scared look.

We found this on the porch.

Our second stop took us to the Taille de Noyer house. But not without some true hunting! Our GPS was not kind to us today and took us on a round about search for this one, which happens to be at an antebellum style house behind a high school. How cool would that be to have a field trip location on your school lot!?

Sadly, both of these locations are only open on Sunday afternoons. They both look like fun places to tour.
